This course gives a brief overview of suitable types of leather for footwear and an insight into foot anatomy, showing the importance of shoe fitting from the development of a baby to adult. Footwear fit demonstrations will be carried out and then put into practice. The course will give a detailed summary of what to look for in a fit – when to fail, when to pass and preparation. There will also be work in the testing laboratory, picking out key tests for footwear and a detailed representation of shoe performance in wear.

This training course gives an overview of different leather types and their suitability for leather garments. The workshop offers an understanding of designer quality expectations versus cost; this will include introduction to pattern cutting and general garment construction. Delegates will develop an understanding of garment construction, gain the knowledge necessary to feel confident sourcing leathers and build an understanding of labelling, customer problems and complaints.
